Extension : the CAT5-8000/CAT5-8500
Operate Three Displays at Long Range Distances
Multi-Video Extension for the Discriminating
Computer User
Designed for triple-video extension, the
CAT5-8000 comes in two versions that both
extend three analog video monitors, one RS-232
device, USB control signals and audio hundreds
of feet from the computer. Video, RS-232 and
audio signals can be effectively operated
at any distance up to 600-feet while USB control
signals (for keyboard/mouse) can operate up
to 450-feet from the computer. What differentiates
the two versions is the video extension techniques
and the amount of cabling needed for extension.
CAT5-8000 – High Resolution Video Extension
The CAT5-8000 sends three analog monitors,
one USB-equipped keyboard/mouse, one audio
output, and one RS-232 device (like a touchscreen)
far from the computer using multiple CAT5
cables. It’s designed for those situations
where multiple extended video screens are
desired. USB control, audio and RS-232 support
is provided to enable remote operation for
improved performance.
CAT5-8500 – Additional Video Refinement
The CAT5-8500 operates just like the CAT5-8000
but it sends its video signals separately
using their own CAT5 cable. This means it
requires an additional CAT5 extension cable
but it also enables video refinement capabilities
for the extended monitors. Both video signals
can also be extended a few hundred feet further
(up to 600-feet) if needed. The CAT5-8500
is often reserved for those who have greater
video requirements.
Compatibility
Both versions work with all CRT and LCD computer
monitors, USB keyboards/mice, RS-232 and audio
devices (Mac or PC).
How it Works
Both versions use a sender and receiver methodology
to transmit signals from the computer to the
workstation. The sender connects to the computer
using the cables provided. The receiver connects
to the three monitors, RS232 and audio devices
up to 600-feet away (USB can be extended up
to 450-feet). Multiple CAT5 extension cables
(up to 4 for the CAT5-8000; up to 5 for the
CAT5-8500), sold separately, connect the sender
to the receiver and thus the computer to the
extended workstation. Both the sender and
the receiver must be connected to a power
supply. When fully powered and operational,
the units extend all signals efficiently and
reliably.

Features:
• Saves space—no need to make
room for large or small CPUs at the extended
location when both the CAT5-8000 and the CAT5-8500
provide convenient and flexible ways to isolate
the CPU and extend a multiple video workstation
• Increased productivity—a remote
computer workstation allows computer data
to be input and accessed on-site in real-time
• Improved aesthetics—both the
CAT5-8000 and the CAT5-8500 eliminate computer
noise where you work
• Flexible functionality—both
models maintain high resolution video, support
two types of analog monitors (CRT and LCD),
DDC control signals, USB and RS-232 peripherals
• High Performance Technology—both
models use Extreme USB technology for USB
extension, ensuring control signals operate
optimally
• Multimedia Enabled—audio is
extended for multimedia applications
• Ease of use—both models install
in seconds and are rack-mountable
